Companions of the Prophet

Abu Hudhayfa ibn Utba (d. 11 or 12 AH / 632 or 633 CE) was an early Companion of Prophet Muhammad, a son of the Meccan leader Utba ibn Rabi'a, an emigrant to Abyssinia and a veteran of Badr, who freed and adopted Salim and died commanding a wing of the Muslim army at Yamamah.

Ikrima ibn Abi Jahl (d. 13 AH / 634 CE) was the son of Abu Jahl and among the most determined Meccan opponents of Prophet Muhammad, condemned to death at the conquest of Mecca. Pardoned at his wife's plea, he accepted Islam, commanded armies in the Ridda Wars, and was killed fighting in Syria.

The second leader of the Tablighi Jamaat, who directed it from 1944 to 1965 and oversaw its spread beyond South Asia. A graduate of Mazahir Uloom Saharanpur, he compiled Hayat al-Sahaba, a three-volume Arabic collection on the lives of the Prophet's Companions.

Talha ibn Ubaydullah (594-656 CE) was one of the earliest converts to Islam and one of the Ten Promised Paradise. Known for his generosity and bravery, he played a crucial role in early Islamic history but died fighting against Ali ibn Abi Talib at the Battle of the Camel.

Ubayda ibn al-Harith (c. 561-624 CE) was a Companion of Prophet Muhammad from the Banu al-Muttalib, among the earliest Muslims of Mecca, commander of the expedition to Rabigh, and the first of the Prophet's kinsmen to be killed in battle, dying of a wound taken in single combat at Badr.

Zubayr ibn al-Awwam (594-656 CE) was one of the earliest converts to Islam, one of the Ten Promised Paradise, and the Prophet's cousin. Known for his exceptional bravery and loyalty, he died at the Battle of the Camel fighting against Ali ibn Abi Talib.
